Judging me by my interest on K-pop why don’t you?
I’m the type of person that will go all out if it’s something I’m really interested about. Back in my Harry Potter days, I memorized all the family tree of the Black family and read hundreds of Harry Potter fanfiction.
My interests now lies on K-Pop, or the Korean culture in general. I’m actually a newbie in this, but I have already researched everything there is to research. I know almost everything there is to know about K-pop. I know the history, as far back as the 90s.
So it saddens me that some people gave me side-eye glances or judge me because of my choice of music. They told me that the guys look like girls and the girls are all plastic, and the music is crap. Why listen to K-pop?
Well, that’s exactly the point. They are NOT into K-pop. So what do they know? Do they know how entertainment agency in Korea works? Do they put hours of research into it? Why do they feel that they can judge K-Pop?
Do you know the difference between Korean pop and American pop? Do you know how they are manufactured? No? Their interaction with k-pop is just a brief encounter, so how can they judge something that they don’t know about?
Of course everything revert back to taste. Not everyone’s gonna like kpop. I listen to a variety of artists too. But there’s no reason to judge. Do you know that k-pop idols start training from as young as 10 years old to debut 10 years later? No? Well, I don’t know about your favorite artist’s details either, but that doesn’t mean I can judge you for it.
Well, this is certainly a random rambling. I guess I just need to write this.
